Ruidoso:
Pack your
fly rod when planning a trip to Ruidoso! We are blessed with several high mountain lakes
on which to enjoy many hours of still water fly fishing. Grindstone Lake allows float
tubes and canoes on a seasonal basis. Mescalero Lake offers row boats. Bonito Lake is
probably the most scenic, but does not allow water craft.
The Ruidoso watershed also offers several high
mountain streams. The Rio Ruidoso River features over 27 miles of fly fishing fun. The large majority of the Rio Ruidoso is public access, however, there are areas
owned by private individuals. Please respect the rights of these
landowners and do not fish where posted. Brook Trout, Cutbows and Brown
Trout can be found in several of the high mountain streams - around eight to
nine thousand feet of elevation. All of these areas are found within a 40 minute
drive.
Fly's Etc. offers local guided service as well
as guided trips to the Mulcock Ranch. Our prices are as follows:
Local fly fishing outings priced at:
• $30/hour 1 person
• $45/hour 2 persons

Mulcock Ranch:
Mulcock Ranch has been in the same family for over 100 years. The love and
commitment shows in the management of this beautiful land. The
Rio Peñasco River flows through the Mulcock Ranch and is probably the
southern-most natural trout stream in the United States. The water
temperature remains between 58-62 degrees year round. The Peñasco River starts high in the Sacramento
Mountains and flows down and out through the desert toward Artesia, NM. Mulcock
Ranch is located 1 1/2 hours south of Ruidoso, near Mayhill, NM.
Charles & Marcetta Mulcock (owners)
have developed the waters through this property (about 2 miles) into a private fishing
estate by membership only.
FLY'S ETC., as
well as a hand full of other fortunate individuals, has secured fishing
rights to the Mulcock Ranch.
Daily rates for the
Mulcock are:
• One person: $275.00
• Two people: $450.00 (2-person maximum per day)
